"I don’t know about you, but when I see that the world’s only horror-comedy film festival has only a few days to fully fund its Kickstarter, I get a little nervous. I get nervous that independent filmmakers could be forced to show their films projected on old flour sacks at the end of seedy alleys, rather than inside the fabulous SIFF cinema in Seattle. I get nervous that our audience of sickos will be reduced to searching for laughs in old Mork and Mindy episodes, instead of howling for joy at a well-placed arterial spray. And I get nervous for Steve. Yes, Steve: my best friend and the beating heart of the BoneBat Comedy of Horrors Film Festival.
You see, this festival falls right around his birthday. And every year he begins to reflect on his own wretched mortality. The Comedy of Horrors Film Festival, with its visceral bled of hilarity and horror, is the only way to take Steve’s mind off of what an ancient, decrepit ghoul he has become.
Oh sure, the audience loves independent short films, feature films, and live music: especially since we are bringing the beloved Pine Box Boys back to play their wicked blend of Blackgrass. And the festival highlights comedy and horror films from around the world; bringing the people of this planet a little closer together in these divisive times. But this pales in comparison to the effect it has on Steve.
It makes him feel young again. When the BoneBat Comedy of Horrors Film festival is up and running, he prances about the SIFF theater like an adolescent chupacabra: kicking up his heels and gnashing his teeth, joyfully howling incantations and rending his flesh with glee. It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.
So act now. This is your only chance to get discounted tickets. It is the sole opportunity for you to acquire an enormous package.
We only have a few days left to make this happen. We need you. Independent film makers need you. The world needs you. But most of all, Steve needs you. Do it for Steve. - gord"
Sigh. And that, friends, is why we don't ask Gord to do more around here. Pledge today and secure your tickets to Seattle's most fun Film Festival! But don't do it for me. Do it for YOU! - Steve
